Is it three?
Is three the magical number?
April 2010 Two of our clients Andrew and Helen have been with Mind Body Motion since the business began back in October 2006. Both of them had some periods where they did not train with us during this time however they remained active on their own. They have recently achieved some outstanding results and it seems that three sessions of vigorous, structured and supervised exercise might be the magical solution.

Andrew
Andrew trains with Kaz. They started working together in 2006 and trained for around 2 months before there was a considerable gap where Andrew continued to train on his own at the local leisure centre and ride his racing bike. Then both Andrew and his wife Marie were training together early in 2009 until Andrew became quite ill with bronchitis and had to stop training for around 3 months. When he came back last year in August he trained twice a week religiously. He had lost a lot of strength when he first returned after his illness and Kaz recalls that in those early days he could hardly even do one push up on his knees. Cardio was also a killer.
After the Christmas break he recommenced training this year with a vengeance and requested that he do three sessions per week. We decided on a set of fitness measurements which include a series of activities such as the beep test, squat jumps, stairs, pushups and so on. His first assessment was in early March and although the results were good, we knew they could be better. Just recently we did the assessment again with outstanding results. He improved two levels in the beep test, taking him up to levels that would qualify him for certain forces (police, fire brigade etc) and he exceeded every other measure. Whilst it was tough going, he was much stronger and much fitter.
"I had a decision to make. FIT or FAT ? I chose FIT because I was sick and tired of looking at my spare tyre. I turn 40 in June and it really was now or never. So I asked Kaz if she could train me 3 times a week. I knew this was the only way to do it. The money I was spending on it was also a motivation not to fail. I’m not stopping until the love handles have gone. Training 3 times a week is working incredibly well. It keeps me focused on my goal. It stops me from eating the wrong food and drinking too much. I really don’t want to waste my time or Kaz’s. As Kaz can tell you, my fitness levels have increased dramatically. I have an amazing amount of energy and motivation to do better. I have done two fitness tests which were 6 weeks apart. This test included a Beep test and I was so happy with my improved results.
I am really starting to feel fit and I’m addicted. I now find myself doing what I need to do in to get the best out of my training. And that pretty much is a good diet and sleep. I am a very normal person who runs his own business and is married with a 3 month old baby. The money I spend on training I think I get back about 5 times in energy. Fit body, clear mind. I too am busy and find it easy to make excuses, but I want to feel great and energised throughout my life and I want to be able to run around with my kids. I highly recommend three sessions a week, and can’t talk highly enough of Kaz’s exciting routines."

Helen
Helen started in the group class at Naremburn and trained with this class from October 2006 through until March 2007 when she left IBM. She moved across to personal training later in 2007 with Kaz, initially once a week and then picking up a second session. When Gemma came to work for Mind Body Motion, she took over one of the sessions for Helen, providing some variety in Helen’s exercise routine. Late last year Emma came to work for us and we asked Helen if she would again try a new fitness coach. She is always willing to “test the newbies”! At the same time she requested to increase her training to three times per week. So for a while she had three trainers, Kaz, Emma and Gemma.
Helen is fanatical with her exercise. Anyone who elects to train three times per week with a fitness coach means business. This is a serious investment of time and commitment. It seems to be making a difference, particularly with the variety of exercises. Helen has always been super strong and we can throw anything her way and she will tackle it. We gave her the beep test, squat jumps, and stair runs to set her some challenging goals. She recently re-tested on the beep test and improved by two whole levels. Her stair runs have also increased by 6 sets from 5 to 11. And these stairs are killers! Helen continues to train at the gym & do yoga as well as her sessions with Mind Body Motion.
"I’m amazed at how quickly my fitness and strength have improved since I added the third session, after feeling like I had reached a plateau for a while… and not just that but with a crazy intense job I’m finding my energy levels have also increased a huge amount.
Emma & Gem each have their own unique ways of encouraging me and pushing me to train harder each session, whether it is Gem’s evil celebrity workouts or Emma joining me in running around the park to keep me going when I feel like I can't go any further. Training has become a (good) habit again rather than a chore thanks to Kaz & the team".
