Fit for work!
April 2010 In today's busy environment, everyone is trying to fit more into their day. Work, family, leisure activities, social functions...and god forbid that you fit in anything to assist you improve your health and wellness! We have 10,080 minutes in a week and the exercise recommendation is 30 minutes per day, so how do we find 210 minutes in our 10,080 minutes in a week?? Sounds easy doesn't it? Somehow it doesn't seem to be!
One way is to exercise during the day. This means you don't have to get up early and you don't have to find time at the end of your day when you are tired. You aren't cutting into your valuable sleep time or the time you want to spend with your family.
We are working with several corporate groups who have decided to train with their colleagues at lunch time or before work. Training with colleagues is also beneficial from a bonding perspective, getting to know each other, and also just having fun together as a team. Plus the benefits to employees is significant. You have a happier and healthier employee, helping to reduce stress, improve focus and reduce time off work as a result of illness.
Let us introduce you to our corporate teams!
AT&T
Back in March 2009, AT&T approached us to run a fitness program for their teams at North Sydney and West Pennant Hills. We ran classes for 6 weeks and when these classes were completed, several of the guys decided to continue on their own. The West Pennant Hills team train with Gemma on a Monday at 12:30pm and the North Sydney team train with Kaz on a Tuesday at 4:00pm.
In the photos we have Matt, Manfred, Glen, Rory, Sam and Rowena. Plus we have Guy, Martin, Gerard and Pete.
The teams have achieved some great results. Sam was one of our star clients of the month, achieving weight loss and reduced girth measurements. Manfred ran with us in the City 2 Surf in 2009 and will do so again in 2010. Sam will join him this year at the C2S. Gerard and Pete are both competing in the SMH Half Marathon this May. We are pleased to have been able to assist these teams with their fitness levels and we are proud to see them going on to bigger and better achievments!
AT&T have recently commenced a 12 week Fitness Challenge with us and a new group of employees are competing for the "Most Improved" throughout the challenge.
Reckitt Benckiser
Kaz has been training Frederique who is the Marketing Director at Reckitt Benckiser for over 2 years now. Back in April 2008 Frederique suggested that perhaps her team might like to do some exercise at lunch time, and could we assist with a program. We started a class at lunch time on a Wednesday out at West Ryde, down the road from their office. Over time we increased the training by adding in an additional class on a Friday morning. Karen runs the class on a Wednesday at 12:30pm (taking over recently from Gemma) and Gemma runs the class on a Friday at 7:00am.
Pictured are Nicola, Jennifer, Sarah and Alessia. Missing from the photo are Grace and Terri. The girls enjoy their break from work and despite the challenges of getting away from a busy workload they are consistent with their training.
TPG
One of our clients, Michelle, has been training with us since July 2009. I knew she worked at TPG and suggested that perhaps we could get a lunch time class together for some of her work mates. Michelle is a dynamo and rallied the troups, and in October last year she convinced a group of the guys to exercise at 12:30pm on a Thursday at a local park in North Ryde.
Pictured in the photo are Damodara, Rahul, Michelle, Brian and Sasha. Missing from the photo is Viola. Sasha recently changed roles so has left the group and Rahul has also moved on for personal reasons. They ensure that they get out of the office on time in their lunch break to work with Gemma every week.
Computershare
Our final group are the Computershare ladies. Ali contacted me last October about running a class for a ten week period. Gemma ran the class at 5:30pm on a Tuesday afternoon in a park in St Leonards near their office. The girls worked hard every week after work with Gemma.
The whole team is pictured. Olivia, Michelle, Susan, Lyndall, Ali and Stacey. Susan was training to get into the police force and had some outstanding results in our final assessment session. Despite wanting to continue into 2010, the team had several changes and weren't able to continue with us.
