What is the date, time and cost?

Sunday 19 May at 4:00-6:00pm, cost is $40 scan only, $15 nutrition only, $55 for both. An additional scan at the end of 12 weeks is a futher $40.

Why is measuring fat and bodyfat % important?

Weight alone is not a clear indicator of good health because it does not distinguish between the kg that come from body fat and those that come from lean body mass or muscle. You can be 60kg and have a bodyfat percentage of 24% and someone else can be 60kg and have a bodyfat percentage of 17%. The latter person has more lean muscle and carries less fat.

How does excessive fat affect your health?

It can result in:

  • Type 2 Diabetes, heart disease and high blood pressure 
  • Visceral fat is the deep abdominal fat that surrounds your organs. Even thin people can have dangerous levels of it. Some levels of visceral fat are normal and even healthy but too much can lead to insulin resistance, diabetes, heart disease, and inflammation.

How do we measure body fat in kg and our body fat %?

Bioelectrical impedance technology measures your body composition. I have had Dexascans for many years but recently tried the InBody 570 which is technology offered by TRU Body Composition Analysers. The results were very closely matched (albeit a few weeks apart). Close enough that we are able to use them for our clients. The difference is price? $100 compared to $40.
